I grew up in Sheffield & our cousins lived in York. Our Dads had a group of friends they'd met at school. In summer 1973 the families went camping in north Devon . .There were 7 families & 17 children so we took over a waterlogged area of a campsite at Big Meadow near Watermouth Cove. Tents were relocated to dry sections of the site by lifting them and carrying them much to the amusement of the students pitched nearby.
I found the photo of last day at camp in Dad's slide collection & remembered that fortnight in Devon instantl. There were fishing trips for mackerel & Mark Crooks got lost on Croyde beach. The students locked themselves out of their car & the lock was picked using a coat hanger by one if the Dads. As kids we were seriously impressed. We had the best holidays.
